2022 BMW M3 and M4 Compete Xtreve all comes with all-wheel drive for 77,895

The often-rumored all-wheel drive BMW M3 / M4 is finally on its way.

On Sunday, the 2022 BMW M3 Competitive XDrive and M4 Competitive XDrive were announced with the available M-specific all-wheel-drive system, quick performance numbers and, 000 4,000 premium.

Like the others M3 and M4 competition models, xDrive versions use the S58 turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-6, which produces 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. However, the oil system in xDrive cars has been modified to handle the increased loads from the extra traction of the all-wheel drive. The 8-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties as a 6-speed manual is only available on non-competitive, non-X-drive models.

Such as Current M5, The new M3 / M4 xDrive models use an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch variable, rear-oriented all-wheel drive system. The active differential distributes torque to the rear between the two wheels.

The all-wheel drive may make the M3 and M4 less competitive, but it will make them faster even if it adds about 100 pounds. BMW said the rear-wheel drive versions slow down from 0.4 seconds to 3.4 seconds at 0-60 mph. The top speed with the M performance package is 155 mph or 180 mph.

The all-wheel-drive system transmits power to the rear wheels on a daily basis in any mode. When needed, such as on slippery sidewalks or rough departures, the power automatically shifts to the front, although BMW does not say how much power will flow to the front wheels.

The all-wheel-drive system on the M3 and M4 competing models has three drive modes. The default system is 4WD, which is an all-wheel drive with rear-pro power distribution. The 4WD Sport mode delivers more power to the rear wheels, and it was developed track-friendly. A mode called 2WD can also be called burnout, donut or drift mode because it requires stability control and traction control to be turned off, then locking power only to the rear wheels.

When Xtreme competing models share their 19-inch front and 20-inch rear aluminum wheels with their rear-wheel drive siblings, the front suspension was redesigned geometrically and the steering ratio was changed from 15.0: 1 to 14.6: 1 to compensate for the theft of the all-wheel-drive system.

Since the cars do not have badges or other visual differences, it is not possible to understand whether the 2022 BMW M3 competition or the M4 competition has an X drive from the outside, and the system is completely hidden.

The 2022 BMW M3 Compete Xtrive will cost 77,895 (including target), while the M4 Competitive XDrive will run at 7,79,795 when it hits US dealers in August.
