A major seller in Greek supermarkets when overall liquor sales are on the rise

Rum, wine, whiskey and beer were the most popular items flying off the shelves of Greek supermarkets in the first quarter of 2021, According to new data.

Rum sales accounted for 67.7%, alcohol 49.1%, whiskey 43.6% and beer 27.3%.

This may lead to prolonged closure of bars and restaurants due to corona virus infection.

Research Institute Nielsen IQ The first category includes oven cleaner products (47.5%), baking paper (28.4%), hair removal products (25.1%) and hair dyes (22%).

In addition, supermarkets with spaces of more than 100 square meters increased sales by 1.9% in the first quarter compared to 2020.

Food and beverages grew by 4.2%, while personal care products and household goods increased by 8.9% and 7.4% compared to 2020, respectively.
