A woman, 21 and a man, 36, have been arrested after a baby was found dead in a supermarket car park in Pilston.

Police have arrested a woman and a man in connection with the death of a baby boy found in a supermarket car park in Pilston.

The baby boy was found yesterday (Sunday, April 11) in Morrisons on the Black Country route.

A 21-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man have been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with the baby’s death.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We appealed yesterday to find the mother of a child who died just after 9am in a supermarket car park in Pilston.

“Fortunately, we identified the mother as a result of our appeal and she was taken to the hospital for proper care.

“We are now investigating the tragic circumstances in which the child died.

“An autopsy will be performed on a male child who is not considered to be full-time.

A 21-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the baby’s death and are currently in custody.

“This is a catastrophic discovery that has shocked and saddened many.

“We understand that this is an emotional event, yet we urge people not to speculate on the circumstances of this tragedy, which will not help our investigation, and we will act with dignity and concern.”
