Major League Baseball moved the all-star game from Atlanta’s Troist Park, which responded Friday to Georgia by passing a new law last month restricting voting rights.
MLP presented the game to Atlanta on May 29, 2019, and the game was scheduled for July 13 as part of a baseball midsummer break that included a futures game on July 11 and a home run derby the next night. But for the first time Commissioner Rob Manfred decided to move the all-star event and amateur draft planned to be held in Atlanta.
“Major League Baseball fundamentally supports the right to vote for all Americans and opposes ballot box restrictions,” Manfred said.

Following the MLP’s decision to relocate events, the Atlanta Baseball team released a statement expressing disappointment.
