Update: SpaceX is now targeting launch for this mission at 11:36 PM EST, Wednesday, August 16th.
SpaceX teams at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida are on track to launch a Falcon 9 rocket on Wednesday, Aug. 16, with another batch of the company’s Starlink satellites online. Catch FLORIDA TODAY’s Space Team live launch coverage starting 90 minutes before liftoff.
The launch is set for 8:14 PM EST, but the weather isn’t looking great at the time, so there’s a chance it could slip later into the four-hour launch window.
This will be the Space Coast’s 42nd launch this year.
When does SpaceX launch:
Liftoff is set for 8:14 PM EST with a four-hour launch window on Wednesday extending to midnight. Should teams need it, other launch opportunities will become available around the same time, 24 hours later on Thursday, August 17th.
What is the weather forecast for the launch:
Space Force forecasters last reported the weather to be 20% “go” when the window opens but should improve to 65% by the end.
Here’s everything you need to know:
- It will host Launch Complex 40 of the Cape Canaveral space station.
- The payload is the company’s next batch of Starlink satellites to send over the Internet.
- The 230-foot Falcon 9 rocket will follow a southeasterly trajectory between Florida and the Bahamas.

- No local sonic hack bang with this job.
- The 130-foot-tall first-stage booster will target an unmanned ship, which will land about eight minutes after liftoff.
When is the next launch date?
The next Falcon 9 scheduled to lift off from Florida will send NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the International Space Station from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
Liftoff is scheduled for 3:49 a.m. EDT, Friday, Aug. 25. NASA astronaut Jasmine Mogbili, ESA astronaut Andreas Mugensen, along with JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and Roscosmos astronaut Konstantin Borisov will fly aboard SpaceX’s Endurance Dragon capsule to the space station for the six-month science mission.
Prior to this, SpaceX could have scheduled another Falcon 9 Starlink mission from Cape, but no specific launch dates have been announced.
