Little appealed after plans for a new supermarket in Herefordshire were rejected.

Budget Supermarket Little has been given a hearing date to appeal after plans for a new supermarket in the city of Herefordshire were rejected by the Herfordshire Council.

County planners rejected plans to demolish part of the Wolf Commercial Park on Clochester Road in Rose-on-Wye and build a store on a 2.2-acre site in July 2019.

The projects, which received 16 objections from developers, members of the public and members of Morrisons supermarkets, would have created about 100 jobs in the store and renovated the vast business park.

But project officials said the project would be detrimental to the long-term security of the historic city center.

They also said Little had failed to prove why land or buildings could not be used within the limited central shopping and business area in Rose.

Other reasons for denial include loss of unwanted trees, road safety concerns and loss of employment lands.

The appeal will be heard on May 20 by a planning analyst appointed by the Secretary of State.
