Major Supermarket Opening Hours for Aldi, Asta, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Bank Holidays

After Easter ends in April, the next big thing everyone is looking forward to is two bank holidays in May.

With a bit of luck, the weather will be hot between today and May 3rd, so everyone can really enjoy what they planned under the current restrictions.

Most pubs and restaurants will be busy as expected, but regularly, supermarkets will welcome more people when the opening and closing hours change.

Here are the general guides for each supermarket, but each store is slightly different and it is necessary to double check the local stores.

Tesco

Opening hours vary between branches, so if you plan to go to a store, be sure to check it out Tesco Online Store Inventor Be the first to see start times at your local branch.

Most stores opened at 8am and closed at 6pm or 8pm when we checked.

  • Saturday May 1 – 6am to 12pm (hours vary between extra, express and stationary stores
  • Sunday, May 2 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May 3 Monday – 8am – 8pm

Little

Little has confirmed that during bank holidays, most stores across the UK and Wales are open from 8am to 8pm.

  • Saturday, May 1 – 8 am – 9 pm
  • Sunday, May 2 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May 3 Monday – 8am – 8pm

Alti

Aldi said: “Are you planning a great bank holiday weekend? Don’t worry, your local Aldi will be open to make sure you get everything you need.

“Our UK start time is down, Scotland start time may vary.”

  • Saturday, May 1 – 8 am – 10 pm
  • Sunday, May 2 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May 3 Monday – 8am – 8pm

Asta

Asta stores are usually open from 8am to 8pm on bank holidays Mondays.

Hours are different on Saturdays and Sundays, so it is important to check your local store locator.

NHS and maintenance workers get priority shopping in large stores every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 9am, as well as on Sundays from 9am to 10am.

  • Saturday, May 1 – 7 am – 10 pm
  • Sunday, May 2 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • May 3 Monday – 8am – 8pm

Morrisons

Most branches are open from 7 a.m. on Mondays for bank holidays.

Morrisons has introduced an NHS hour from 6-7 a.m. Monday-Saturday.

On Sundays, most stores open at 9 a.m. for NHS staff, and then for other customers, shopping normally at 9.30 p.m.

For any other stores that open after 9.30am, they will be open one hour earlier for NHS staff.

  • Saturday, May 1 – 7 am – 10 pm
  • Sunday, May 2 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May 3 Monday – 7 am – 8 pm

Sainsbury’s

Sciencebury stores are open as usual on Saturdays and Sundays, but the largest stores are open Mondays from 8am to 5.30pm.

Waitrose

  • Saturday, May 1 – 8 am – 9 pm

  • May 3 Monday – 8am – 6pm
