Carnival Cruise Line officials told WESH 2 that a passenger jumped overboard Sunday as the ship was returning to Jacksonville, and according to Matt Lupoli, senior director of public relations, crew members were notified that the man was missing by his traveling companion. “Unfortunately, after a thorough onboard search and surveillance camera video review, it was determined that he had jumped,” Lupoli said. The Carnival Illusion was on a four day trip in the Bahamas and returned Monday morning. Coast Guard officials searched more than 1,000 miles for a 30-year-old man who went overboard when the ship was 95 miles east of Melbourne.
