Our food writers share their favorites

Online food shopping may be convenient, but it eliminates the fascinating, time-consuming habit of looking at the contents of other people’s baskets and carts in line.

Rather than completely sniffing, it could be a valuable research tool, or at least I say it myself. An unusual item found in someone else’s basket, or a suggestion made by a trusted friend, can become a regular purchase with the power to turn everyday cooking into something more enjoyable and satisfying.
