Russia says it foiled drone strike targeting Crimean bridge
Russia said it shot down three Ukrainian naval drones in the Black Sea between Friday and Saturday, according to it, targeting the Crimean bridge.
“September 2, around 2:20 a.m. Moscow time [1 h 20, heure de Paris] Third unmanned Ukrainian semi-submersible boat sent by Kiev regime to carry out terror attack on Crimean bridge destroyed in Black Sea »The Russian Defense Ministry said in a telegram.
On August 12, two Ukrainian missile attacks on this strategic bridge crossing the Kerch Strait were thwarted. The work, built at great expense on the orders of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula in 2014, has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attacks.
An earlier attack in July caused extensive damage to the road section of the structure, which is also used to transport military equipment to the Russian army fighting in Ukraine.
The 18-kilometer-long concrete bridge, inaugurated by Vladimir Putin in 2018, consists of two parallel structures, one reserved for road traffic and the other for rail traffic.
Crimea is also regularly targeted by Ukrainian attacks.
