Supermarkets, SEWA TT and SVG

Supermarkets across the country have teamed up with the charity SEWA TT to collect supplies for St. Vincent and the Grenadines after the eruption of the La Sfrier volcano.

The team is there Partnered with the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago To collect the most needed items as listed by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

“One of Seva TD’s guiding principles – the world is a family. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are our Caribbean sister island, we have a duty to help our family members. It reminds us of the compassion that Barbados showed to our citizens during these epidemics, and they have demonstrated how the Caribbean family can live together. ”

The group has pledged to deliver 2,000 buckets of indestructible food and medical items wrapped in volcanic ash following the eruption.

“Seva DT is manufactured by local suppliers with 2,000 buckets of food and medical supplies as perishable and as possible.”

“Why buckets? Buckets are on the requirements list and we have experience in increasing the use of buckets in the past. They are sturdy, waterproof and easy to handle, making them compact and easy to stack for transport and storage. Each bucket has a seal that must be broken to access its contents, which means that if someone taps it. ”

The team said CDEMA has identified the listed items and is in contact with the Disaster Preparation and Management Office.

Members of the public can help by participating in any of the supermarkets listed below. Customers can inform the cashier that they would like to contribute to the “Seva DT SVG Volcano Relief”.

The cashiers will accept the contribution, which will appear on the customer’s receipt.

The supermarket will then consolidate these funds and send them to Seva DT to purchase the required items and arrange for distribution with OTPM.
