The local BPE manufacturing company receives 9 1.9 million ‘repayable contributions’ from the central government

Kitchener – The Waterloo regional company that makes surgical masks in the midst of the Govit-19 epidemic has received 9 1.9 million “refundable contributions” from the federal government.

Swengo Ltd. has developed a second facility to manufacture surgical masks, which includes certified clean room and specialized equipment for making masks. In a press release, the government said the company could produce 7.6 million masks a month and would sell more than 75 percent of their products.

“The Government of Canada is committed to increasing our domestic and international certified BPE supply with solutions manufactured in Canada. Through FedEv Ontario, Swingo Ltd.’s current investment responds to calls for action to ensure access to vital equipment for essential leading workers across Canada, while working in the Waterloo region.” That Waterloo MP.

The fund was part of FedEv Ontario.

Officials said the company could also create 24 new jobs in the Waterloo region to help with BPE production.

“Swengo Ltd. has been in business in Ontario for over 59 years. Like many Canadians and Canadian businesses, we are severely affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. We decided to come forward and be a part of the solution. With the incredible support of FedEv Ontario, we were able to open a state – of – the – art mask manufacturing facility in Waterloo, and we look forward to continuing to support our community for many years to come with this expansion, ”Swengo President Paul Sweeney said in a statement.

In December, the province announced it would invest $ 2 million in Svenko to help build a new facility for the production of masks.
