A great new supermarket is about to welcome its first customers today.

The store covers an area of about 1,727 square meters and includes amenities including a bakery, customer toilets and “adequate parking for cars and bicycles”.

From today, it will be open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 10pm and on Sundays from 11am to 5pm.

Adam Forstick, Regional Property Chairman, Little GB, said: “We would like to thank everyone who participated in bringing our new store to Brighton.

“It is very good for us to be able to create more jobs in the area and we are proud to be serving the local community at this time.”

Little bosses say Brighton and Howe charities are benefiting from the opening of the new store, with the bulk of the stock being donated to nearby food banks.

A spokesman for the company said: “Surplus production and customer donations will be made to companies that redistribute food to some of the most vulnerable in our communities.

“It is offered through the Little Feed It Pack program, which works with Neighborly and connects Little stores up and down the country with local charities, food banks, community cafes and kitchens, and brings the quality food surplus into good use every day.”

The Goldstone retail store is set to become the second Little Supermarket in Brighton and Howe, while the chain already operates a base on Arundel Road in Whitehawk.

There is another shop not far from the city on The Malt House Estate in Shoreham.
