The new trailer for Twisted Metal delivers our best look yet at the upcoming live TV show.

Twisted Metal is a comedy series based on the PlayStation idle vehicular combat video game franchise. It stars Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), who plays “a swagger-mouthed intruder offered a chance at a better life, but only if he succeeds in delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.”

Mackey helps Quiet, the “axe-wielding car thief” played by Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Twisted Metal also stars Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Divorce, Spider-Man: No Way Home) as highway guard agent Stone, Will Arnett voices wrestler Joe Chonua portraying the madman who drives Sweet Tooth’s ice cream truck. All ten half-hour episodes premiere on Peacock on July 27, 2023.

Last month, Mackie said Twisted Metal carries an objective political message that highlights real-life “class warfare.” “We’re slowly becoming the haves and have-nots in real life,” he said. “We live in these gated communities, in these unaffordable neighborhoods. Really, it becomes class warfare in real life. That’s what this show is pointing a finger at.”
