Larian Studios backed off Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix 4 last night due to new incidents.
The developer shared the news last night on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after the update went live.
“Due to a build error that caused new crashes, we have rolled back Hotfix 4 for the time being. We will re-release it as soon as the cause is fixed,” reads the statement.
“If you’ve saved since the update, you won’t be able to load those saves until we re-deploy hotfix 4. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
He then added, “To be clear, we’re back on Hotfix 3, so you can keep playing! You won’t be able to load saves from hotfix 4 today until they’re pushed live again. We apologize.”
Due to a build bug that caused new crashes, we’ve rolled back Hotfix 4 for the time being. We will reissue it once we fix the reason.

Responses to the post include lots of players upset about unusable save files and losing progress, and others thanking the team for the speed of the fixes.
There is no word on when exactly Hotfix 4 will be relaunched.
The first major patch for the game is also on the way, which will contain over a thousand fixes and tweaks. This will come after Hotfix 4 – again no exact release date yet.
Are you a PS5 owner(im) patiently waiting for the game to be released? Pre-loads will begin August 31st.
