A search warrant has been issued for Tupac Shakur for Keefe D, the gang member who says he witnessed the murder

Nevada police issued a search warrant Monday for laptops and other electronic devices at the home of an alleged witness who was in the suspect’s car when superstar rapper Tupac Shakur was fatally shot in Las Vegas in 1996, according to the warrant obtained exclusively by NBC News Thursday.

Duane Keith Davis, 60, also known as “Keefy D” or “Keffe D,” was the target of the Clark County warrant as Las Vegas police also searched desktop computers and other electronic storage devices such as thumb drives, CDs, external hard drives and audio recordings.

Davis was one of four people police say were in the suspect car when Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The alleged shooter, Davis’ nephew Orlando Anderson, was later killed in a gang-related murder in Los Angeles. Davis, who was being investigated by both the LAPD and LAPD Metro, initially denied involvement in Tupac’s murder, but later provided police details about the case under a limited non-prosecution agreement. Recently, he has openly discussed his presence at the scene of the shooting in interviews, articles, and other media.

The note said Davis was a member of the Southside Compton Street Crips gang.

The memo said investigators were also looking for “notes, writings, notebooks, and other handwritten or printed documents relating to TV shows, documentaries, YouTube episodes, book manuscripts, and films relating to the murder of Tupac Shakur.” Copies of the book “Compton Street Legend,” co-authored with Keffe D, were also a significant item, according to the note.

While searching Davis’ home in Henderson, a city about 15 miles south of Las Vegas, a Pokeball USB drive, a black iPhone in a black case, a gold iPad with a broken screen, a gold iPad in a pink bag and a purple Toshiba laptop turned up, among other things, according to the memo.

Another Toshiba laptop, a Toshiba hard drive, and an HP laptop were also listed in the items obtained by the investigators.

Police confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the search warrant had been issued.

“We will have no further comment at this time,” the statement concluded.
