George Russell starts from pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen next to him on the front row.
It’s an all-McLaren second row, with Lando Norris taking third on the grid ahead of Oscar Piastri in fourth at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Incredibly, Russell and Verstappen set the exact same time, something that has only happened once before in Formula 1 history since the sport moved to three decimal places.
Russell took first place when he clocked a 1:12.000 first in what were completely dry conditions. The same is completely unexpected for the Grand Prix!
Heavy rain is expected
After heavy rain on Friday in Montreal, third practice and qualifying were conducted in dry conditions, although some very light rain fell.
Significantly heavy rain is expected during the race, with a chance of the Canadian Grand Prix starting on a wet surface. The morning will be dry, before the thunderstorms hit.
However, there is also the possibility that the race will start under dry conditions. If the race starts in dry weather, heavy rain is likely to affect the middle of the Grand Prix.
This will lead to a significant change in strategies, which will make quick thinking by teams extremely vital. You will need to keep one eye in the sky at all times!
