CINCINNATI (WXIX) — According to reports, another football team will call Cincinnati home.
The Arena Football League announced Tuesday 16 locations for the team when play begins in 2024.
Among those locations announced by the AFL is Ohio. The league has not specified where the team will play in Ohio, but two reports indicate it will be in Cincinnati.
Jake Russell from The Washington Post tweet it out that Cincinnati would be the home market for the AFL’s Ohio team. report from TMZ Sports It also claims Cincinnati will be the base for the Ohio team.
If both reports are correct, it is unknown where the Cincinnati team will play its game when the season begins in 2024.
The AFL had a previous team in Cincinnati. Some may remember the Cincinnati Rockers when they first started playing in 1992. The Rockers only lasted for a short time when the team folded in 1993.
The AFL was founded in 1987 but suspended operations in 2009 due to financial problems, an ESPN report explains.
The league experienced success during its inaugural run.
Some league games were televised nationally, they had a rock star own a Philadelphia franchise in Jon Bon Jovi, and perhaps most notably, the AFL where Hall of Famer Kurt Warner played before going into the NFL.
