NHL Pipeline Rankings 2023: A breakdown of all 32 teams from Corey Brunman

NHL Pipeline Rankings 2023: A breakdown of all 32 teams from Corey Brunman

Welcome to the 2023-24 edition of the Athletic NHL Pipeline Rankings, where we look at the future of the NHL, team by team.

Each team will receive a full ranking of the best young players in their organization, with a view of what is expected of each player. These core groups are then ranked from 1 to 32, to show how each compares to the rest of the league.

Player eligibility is determined by age. A player is eligible if he or she is 22 years of age or younger as of September 15, 2023. This includes nearly every prospect selected between the 2019 and 2023 NHL drafts. This is done to include the team’s best prospects without graduating hard for players who have a lot of initial development years before them, Even if they are already in the NHL. This has the effect of sometimes including star NHL players but excluding players who are still in the minors and have a chance at making the league. There is no perfect way to establish a player’s eligibility for a potential rating. This method has become my favorite after trying all the other options.

Complete individual ratings for all players using tool scores and levels that can be applied across all teams are found within each team’s player rating.

The rollout will be eight teams per day over four days, so check back here tomorrow for an update.

Now for the arrangement:

17. Dallas Stars

18. St. Louis Blues
