Pokemon Go trainers are calling on Niantic to “rethink” future Shadow Raids, thanks to issues like raid bans and regular gyms.
Pokemon Go introduced Shadow Raids in May of 2023, a new type of Raid that allowed Trainers to capture Shadow versions of Pokemon — including Legendaries — for a limited time.
Similar to Elite Raids, Shadow Raids are known to be a bit more difficult than normal raids populating areas in Pokemon Go, requiring Trainers to organize to take down a Shadow Boss.

However, some Pokemon Go fans want Niantic to change some key aspects of Shadow Raids in the future, after both Shadow Mewtwo and Articuno came out.
Pokemon Go trainers want to make changes to Shadow Raids
a mail on TheSilphRoad subreddit It sparked discussion among the community after a trainer submitted a thread titled “I really hope Niantic rethinks Shadow Raids for future season(s).”
The OP explained that while Shadow Mewtwo and Articuno were fun, they noted that it “…stops even the most bummed-out Shiny Hunters” and that “lower tiers have never been so exciting”, citing Pokémon like Shadow Pidove that populate the lineup.

They also go on to say that purification is a “terrible mechanic”, and are often frustrated that Shadow Raids prevent regular raids and gyms.
Other fans agreed in the comments that Shadow Raids needed some sort of makeover to keep going, with one fan suggesting a similar makeover for Elite Raids.
“If we keep the premise of this post IRL, Shadow Legendary raids need some sort of Elite Raid treatment. Spur of the moment Shadow Raid just doesn’t cut it. You need to set up a time so people can get together for it.”

Some trainers note that they rarely see other cheerleaders participating in shadow raids. “I haven’t seen anyone else really attack them. It seems that most people in my area didn’t even care about her brilliant hunting.”
It seems clear that fans would want a bit more structure when it comes to Shadow Raids if Niantic wants to keep fans engaged with them. Perhaps next season, the developer will provide some kind of timeline for when the next big Shadow Raid game will roll out.
