The Seahawks added three players on Thursday, signing cornerback Montray Braswell, nose tackle Matthew Gothel, and receiver Justin Marshall.
To make room on the 90-man roster, the team waived running back Wayne Taulapapa and tight end Noah Gendorf, both of whom signed with the Seahawks as undrafted rookies, and waived receiver/injured Rashon Henry. Henry will return to the team’s injured reserve list if he clears waivers.
Gothel, who previously signed with the team as an undrafted free agent last season, is a native of Tacoma and a graduate of Lakes High School. He appeared in two preseason games with Seattle last year, then spent time with the Atlanta Falcons for a short stint in training camp this year. Gotel previously played in the XFL with the San Antonio Brahmas. Gothel won the Division II National Championship in 2019 at the University of West Florida. In his final season in college, he made 26 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
A FCS All-American at Missouri, Braswell initially signed with the Seahawks in June, then was waived early in camp. The 5-foot-10, 194-pound Braswell was a standout cornerback and kick returner for Missouri State. In 29 career games, he recorded six interceptions, 25 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and 125 tackles, while averaging 30.0 yards per return in three seasons, including touchdowns of 100, 96 and 98 yards. Braswell initially signed with Kansas City after the draft.
Marshall, who is 6-foot-2 and 227 pounds, dropped out of the University at Buffalo this spring, and signed with the Atlanta Falcons. In one season at Buffalo, Marshall had 58 receptions for 719 yards and eight touchdowns, and was named Camellia Bowl MVP after recording 11 catches for 127 yards and a score in a win over Georgia Southern. He previously played in Louisville before moving to Buffalo.
