The Smithfield Little League team takes the field this morning at 11 a.m., to take on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion, Pennsylvania. The winner survives in the Little League World Series elimination bracket, while the loser’s run ends in the LLWS.

Smithfield lives to play
The RI champions defeated Media, Pennsylvania, 7-2, on Sunday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They will play Tuesday night against the loser of Monday’s losing Texas-California game. Brady McShane was adept on the mound for Smithfield, smashing 4 hits over 4 innings, striking out 6. Brayden Castillon had 2 hits and an RBI for the Metro Area Champions.

RI is 3 points away from the lead
With the bases loaded, RI scored on a pass, making it 6-2. Smithfield records another player’s choice score. The RI Champions take it 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Smithfield came close to opening it wide
With the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the sixth inning, and major leaguers like Bryce Harper in the stands, Cameron Charlemagne rooted for second, but Brady McShane hit home a throw to extend RI’s lead to 4-2. Then Franco Lima drew a bases-filled walk, making it 5-2 RI, with no one out. The bases are still loaded and Penn is changing pitchers.
Smithfield jumps early
Connor Queenan lead off with lead single and scored on Brayden Castillon’s single. Castillón later recorded on the song Mason Dionne. RI was super-efficient championship pitcher Brady McShane, with 5 strikeouts over two innings.
Penn State got a run on third down, to make it a one-run game. It’s 2-1 after 4 innings.
