Adele says it became a “fixed meme” after the Super Bowl

(CNN) Adele says it’s “hard work” to be a meme after a video of her was taken in power This year it spread widely.

The footage the singer referenced was taken while she was in the stands at Super Bowl LVII.

The emotionally-filled video, in which she can be seen without being heard speaking, quickly went viral, as lip-reading onlookers brainstorm the singer’s potential comments, assuming it was hers. Rihanna before the halftime show.

At her Las Vegas concert over the weekend, Adele confirmed that she was talking about the halftime show and what she actually said.

“Everyone was texting me about myself… I was like, ‘You’ll be fine, you’ll get, like, some weed and you’ll be fine,’ but she obviously couldn’t have any weed because she was pregnant!” she laughed.

Adele has joked that her face is very mobile and expressive, making it staple meme material.

“It’s hard work to always be a meme… every time I step out of the house,” she said. “Maybe because… I don’t have any Botox or anything. My face moves around a lot. I don’t know what it is.”
