Fantastic Four: The First Steps The official title for the Marvel Studios film was revealed during an action-packed panel in Hall H Comic-Con on Saturday.
Director Matt Shakman revealed the news after showing an early trailer, then surprised audiences by introducing cast members Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. He initially said the group would not be involved in the film, which is set to begin production in the UK on Monday.
During the symposium, it was revealed that our essence is The Fantastic Four The cast members will appear in the upcoming two films. The Avengers Movies. The teaser trailer includes an early look at the four main cast members in astronaut suits, an epic spaceship launch, and a stunning final shot of the titanic villain Galactus hovering over Earth.
Pascal said what he enjoyed most about joining the MCU was feeling like a “new family.” The actor shared how he and Shakman had the same manager and were previously roommates, though the director wasn’t impressed with the place.
Moss-Bachrach said he was still in the process of getting his superhero costume, Ben Grimm, known as “The Thing,” ready. “I got a nice text from Mark Ruffalo,” he said. “It took the mystery out of motion capture.” His advice was, “Make the scenes look like real scenes.”
The seminar didn’t last long, Feige said, as the actors had to “literally go back [to the UK]“But they have their own fantastic car that will hopefully get them back to the UK quickly.” And in a magical moment as he said this, a huge blue space car floated onto the stage.
While the The Fantastic Four So far, no plot details have been revealed, with Pascal playing Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Kirby as Sue Storm (aka The Invisible Woman), Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka The Human Torch), and Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing). Paul Walter Hauser and Natasha Lyonne also have undisclosed roles, with Julia Garner set to play Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson playing the big bad Galactus.
In his recent appearance on The Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel President Kevin Feige described the project as a “historic movie” and shared that filming will begin the Monday after Comic-Con, July 29.
“I’m so excited because these characters are cornerstones, they’re legendary pillars of the Marvel universe that we haven’t been able to play with or explore in any significant way except [Doctor Strange in the] Crazy world “There was some fun excitement before that, the way we’re making this movie,” Feige said. “So, I’m really excited.”
Wanda VisionShakman is the director. Fantastic Four: The First Steps From a screenplay by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Peter Cameron (Wanda VisionHe also wrote some scripts for the project, which Feige is producing for Marvel Studios, and is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
Today’s Marvel news comes at a time when the studio is beginning to recalibrate, ramping up the pressure to produce as much content as possible under a new two-film-a-year mandate. It’s already overshooting the release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Part 3 And Wonderswith Deadpool and Wolverine Currently in theaters, the studio now has: Captain America: Brave New World (February 14, 2025) and Lightning* (May 5, 2025) Phase 5 of the MCU is coming to a close.
Opening with The Fantastic FourThe sixth phase will also include: code (November 7, 2025), Avengers 5 (May 1, 2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027).
This year’s San Diego Comic Con runs through Sunday, July 28.
