The smartphone app is like a standard sleep tracker with the addition of some adorable little Pokemon creatures, from the iconic Pikachu to the floating Jigglypuff.
However, the main resident of the island where the adventure takes place is – surprise, surprise – the large and dormant blue oak known as Snorlax. Players will work with a professor who studies other Pokémon’s sleep habits as they fill in a “sleep style,” a play on the popular game. Pokedex From the knowledge that allowed Pokemon hunters like Ash Ketchum to classify the different species they encountered.
Each week, players interact with a new Snorlax that will grow in size over time, giving them the chance to see other Pokémon’s rare sleeping patterns – for example, aa Togepi’s “inverted sleeping”, or Diglett’s “above the ground” open sleeping. These discoveries are then recorded in the player’s dex.
To increase the likelihood of spotting rare sleeping patterns, players can feed Snorlax berries and other foods daily to increase its strength. But sleep is crucial, the more the user snoozes, the more “sleepy power” Snorlax has, which in turn attracts more Pokémon to the island.
How to use a sleep tracker
Using the app is as simple as placing it next to your pillow and drifting off to sleep.
The developers advise users to keep the phones plugged in overnight and place them face down.
Upon waking up, the app categorizes users’ sleep into three types—snooze, sleep, and sleep—which will attract Pokémon whose sleep patterns match.
Similar to other sleep trackers, the app also records users’ sleeping times, waking times, and average sleep duration. The app also offers an audio recording function for those who want to hear snoring – and other sounds – they might make during the night.
