The $1.6 billion lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News took center stage Saturday during the opening sketch of “Saturday Night Live.”
Standing in the real-life “Fox & Friends” trio are Mickey Day, Heidi Gardner, and Bowen Yang, who attempted to interpret recently revealed transcripts sent by Fox hosts that cast doubt on complaints of 2020 election fraud despite giving them credibility over Air, and they insisted that only a portion of these emails had been released.
Day noted that an actual text saying “Rudy Giuliani is crazy” was supposed to read “Insanely hot, I want to lick that dye off his head,” referring to an unfortunate incident when Giuliani’s hair dye apparently came out during a press conference at Republic National Committee headquarters. .
The trio then called Trump supporter Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, onto the program, and warned him not to say anything disparaging of Dominion because of the lawsuit. Played by James Austin Johnson, Trump’s new impersonator on SNL, Lindell announced that each voting machine actually has a “Venezuelan oompa-loompa inside of it that eats votes with its tiny mouth.”
Host Travis Kelsey, the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs (who brings his entire family, including brother Jason, center for the losing Philadelphia Eagles) brought a huge John Cena-like vibe to the show. And he handled comedy with style. Jason Kelsey even made it into a skit, playing opposite his brother as Gardner’s new boyfriend.
In one hilarious pre-recorded clip, Yang is seen with a group of women before he turns to the camera and, in prescription drug ad style, begins a presentation of Straight Male Friend, a low-effort friend for any gay man where interactions are blissfully superficial, like playing video games and eating hot wings.

“Does a straight male friend offer the same deep and rewarding relationship that I have with my daughters? No,” Yang says. “Does my straight male friend know my last name? No. But that’s kind of his beauty.”
Kells and Gardner collaborated again on a sketch in which they play reunited lovers who are interrupted in bed by Yang, and play Garrett from the dating app Hinge, who wears a T-shirt featuring Stewie Griffin from Family Guy.
The highlight of the sketch was Gardner breaking on a number of occasions, with Yang posing like Stewie, then disappearing into the bathroom to try to convince himself not to kill the two of them.
Eventually, Kelsey invites Yang into bed with both of them, at which point Gardner completely gives up all hope of keeping a straight face.
