The final trailer for the movie will appear during Nintendo Direct
Mario is about to make his big screen debut in April. But with a month to go, Nintendo still has time to release another preview trailer Super Mario Bros movie. A Nintendo Direct special is scheduled for March 9th at 5 PM ET on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. You can watch the broadcast above.
The trailer showed off more of the movie than we’ve seen before, including the reveal that the plot revolves around Mario and Peach’s quest to rescue Luigi from Bowser’s clutches. There are plenty of nods to Mario spin-offs like Super Smash Bros in the trailer, but the biggest nod is to Mario Kart as everyone races their way down Rainbow Road, the most famous track in the series.
This is Nintendo’s second live entirely dedicated to Super Mario Bros movie. In their latest live-action special, Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong and talked a bit about its design and how it was changed from the games to the movie. So while Nintendo will likely dive into a segment of the movie a little deeper, the company hasn’t yet announced what we might see other than the final trailer.
Super Mario Bros movie Set for release on April 5, it is produced by Nintendo, Universal Studios, and Illumination Animation (Minions: The Rise of a Gru). The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, and Charlie Day as Luigi, among many others.
