Supermarket Aldi continues its success and the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Contest (IWSC) announced last week has been crowned the ‘Wine Supermarket of the Year’ in 2021.

Defeating rivals Waitros, and Booths and Little, Aldi has three wins in three months for its wine and spirits range. The supermarket scooped up several liquor retailers of the year at the ‘Beverages Retailer of the Year’ awards at the Retail Industry Awards and the Beverages Retail Awards of 2021 at the end of January.

The judges of the IWSC competition praised Aldi: “No invention has been achieved with such a broad budget in mind”.

Recent Gander data show that Aldi is still the fastest growing retailer for wines and the second fastest growing retailer for ready-to-drink cans and spirits.[1].

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director, Nying in Alt UK, said: “We know our customers value the best quality products at the best value and we are proud of our range of wines that have gone from strength to strength over the past few years. Winning the Wine Supermarket title of the year is a true testament to the continued commitment and hard work of our purchasing team and we are excited about what to bring later in the year. ”

Aldi has recently introduced its new Spring Summer 2021 wine range to stimulate the taste buds and bring back the holiday feel. The new range is packed with wines that exclude shoppers from the norm and try varieties that are nowhere to be found, including Canadian wrestling and Uruguayan tanned. Now available in store and online, prices start from 29 4.29.
