Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, “Barbie” continues to break records at the box office and is now the US film studio’s highest-grossing domestic release.
Director Greta Gerwig’s film, released July 21, has grossed $541 million as of Thursday, surpassing its predecessor, The Dark Knight. NumbersBox office data website.
The 2008 superhero film, directed by British-American director and screenwriter Christopher Nolan, previously brought the record-breaking $533 million, the site reported.
Globally, Barbie is closing in on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” as the highest-grossing Warner Bros. movie of all time, The Numbers reports. The 2011 release, which culminated in the original “Harry Potter” series, took in $1.3 billion worldwide, boosted by $934 million in box office sales outside the United States.
And the site reported that the movie “Barbie”, which is still showing in theaters until mid-August, has grossed more than $ 1.2 billion worldwide. The film stars including Australian actress Margot Robbie and Canadian actor Ryan Gosling.
According to the site, The Dark Night has earned approximately $999 billion worldwide.

Other high-grossing Warner Bros. domestic releases
The third highest-grossing domestic release by Warner Bros. is Nolan’s 2012 “The Dark Knight Rises,” which has grossed more than $448 million domestically and more than $1 billion globally, according to the site. Wonder Woman, released in 2017, is fourth domestically with $412 million after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, released in 2011 ($381 million).
