Oddly enough for the Canadians last night, in one game they were mostly on the heels, controlling their pace with a very long shift in the second period. Breakouts were crisp, zonal inputs were a regular occurrence, and it was as if they were beginning to turn waves on maple leaves. But a strong game came out in the third period and they allowed several goals to come back.

As a result, Dominic Duchess keeps that second-term performance as a sign that his new creation is inventing things, and leaving everything as it is. Jespery Courtney gets a chance to make a strong first game with Philip Donald and Tomas Tatar, while Corey Berry and Nick Suzuki will create some chances using a combination of patience and skill. If Eric Stalin’s line-up with Jonathan Droin and Tyler Tofoli can put pressure on the Jets’ defense, there should be good chances of scoring more than two goals.

Connor is not so easy to do against Hellebok, but Montreal have had good success against the Jets’ starter this year, scoring at least three goals in five of the six times they have faced him. Until Jack Allen can do a better job of defending the slot and give Jack Allen a good performance for the second night in a row, three goals will be enough to get at least one point for the Hubs, and test their extra-time strategies with players who grow more confident in the three-three plan.
