NASA’s ingenious helicopter was set up for the first flight

This NASA photo, taken on April 18, 2021, shows the agency’s ingenuity as it successfully completes the high-speed spin-up test of the Mars helicopter, captured on diligence on April 16, 2021 by the Mastcam-Z instrument (55th Soul or Tuesday, Rover’s mission). (Photo / Agent)

An important goal for the mission of perseverance on Mars is astronomy, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life.

The rover will be the first to classify the planet’s geography and past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and to collect and cache Mars rock and regolith (broken rock and dust). If successful, it will be the first controlled aircraft to operate on Mars.
