Peel Regional Police say a man has been charged in connection with an alleged abduction that took place in Brampton about two weeks ago.
Authorities responded after receiving a call about a disturbance to a house on Adventure Drive in Brampton at around 3am on March 28.
Peel police said there was a “contact” between officers and a male suspect before fleeing in a vehicle with a 23-year-old woman.
The woman victim was later found safe at 7:30 p.m., a day after the vehicle was dropped off a short distance away.
Police said Tuesday night that one person had been arrested in connection with the case in Toronto on April 1st.
Paul Prokofiev was charged with aggravated assault and obstruction of a peace officer. He was released on a parole and is due to appear in court on June 9.
One suspect – Guami Garwood – is pending, and police said he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
On a note, police carried out a high-risk descent on March 31 on the Don Mills Road and Pinch Avenue area. However this turned out to be a mistake Police have misunderstood a 17-year-old boy for being a corpse.
Police are asking investigators to contact anyone with information about Garwood’s whereabouts.
