Sberbank’s Moscow headquarters: Russia’s largest bank victim of credit fraud
The biggest operational risk loss in March was a $ 8 billion ($ 108 million) business loan fraud in Sberbank, Russia. The loans were made in January 2018, but the scam came to light last month after Russian authorities made three arrests.
The arrested persons are former managers and employees of former supermarket owner Interdork. The group allegedly gave false information to the bank to obtain the loans and then extorted money for their own use.
