Truck drivers return to work for Shaw’s supermarkets

Wells, Maine (AP) – Truck drivers and mechanics for Shaw’s supermarkets are back in work in New England, with teamsters and the company set to return to the bargaining table on Thursday.

The drivers, who live in a warehouse in Maine, Wells, returned to work Wednesday, delivering groceries to more than 100 Shaw and Star Market grocery stores across the region, officials said.

“Unity It Happened,” Teamsters posted on local 340 social media.

The 70 drivers and mechanics represented by the teamsters went on strike on Monday.

It is unclear where the talks will take place on Thursday. Wells-based drivers and Scarborough-based mechanics have been out of contract since October.

The strike did not affect drivers delivering fruit, vegetables and refrigerated goods from a facility in Medo, Massachusetts.
