Warrior Nun returns as a movie trilogy after Netflix’s cancellation

It’s official: Warrior Nun is back, this time as a trilogy of films. According to executive producer Dean English, the recently canceled Netflix series is being relaunched as a new movie trilogy.

“I am very excited to announce the return of Warrior Nun as a trilogy of motion pictures,” via a new website. Again, the trilogy of feature films. three.”

English thanked the fans for their support, saying, “It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing forward making these stories. You guys really make it all worth it. So, thank you so much for your continued support.”

Warrior Nun debuted on Netflix in July 2020 and ran for two seasons before it was cancelled. However, fans soon rallied to start a campaign to bring her back. The hashtag #SaveWarriorNun is trending again and again, with over 123,000 people signing off (so far) Online petition To renew the show for a third season.

Creator Simon Barry recently confirmed that the show has been saved but didn’t go into detail on how to do it, other than to confirm that it won’t be on Netflix. He said “Today I am excited to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion, and amazing efforts – Warrior Nun will be back and it will be more epic than you can imagine. More details to come! Soon! Thank you!!”

The upcoming movie trilogy is an exciting prospect for Warrior Nun fans, but details are still scarce. For one thing, we still have no idea if original star Alba Baptista will return as the titular warrior, and we likely won’t know for some time. After all, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes mean actors aren’t allowed to complete affected deals.

However, this might just be the beginning of Warrior Nun’s revival. Some might ask, “Is this perhaps inferring that there will be a universe that launches from Warrior Nun, that could expand into movies and TV series that follow characters we already know?” English said. “The answer to that question is yes. There will be more details to come.”

IGN’s Warrior Nun review gave it a 7/10 and said, “Warrior Nun may not break the mold when it comes to supernatural adventure, but it tells its unexpected ‘chosen’ story very well and is nicely carried along by Commander Alba Baptista in her first speaking role.” The English Tropes are recycled a bit here, but the strong performances, esteemed writing, and Spanish background all lend themselves well to a series that decided to take its time with its characters, its mythology, and its stakes.”
